Service Description

The Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Retail (RQF) qualification is ideal for those who work in, or intend to work in, a retail environment where both packaged and/or open foods are available. It is also appropriate for people providing a service; for example, delivery drivers and home delivery employees. Course Content Includes: • Importance of food handlers keeping themselves and work areas clean and hygienic • Importance of keeping food products safe • Personal hygiene in food safety, including their role in reducing the risk of contamination • Key legal responsibilities of food handlers • Importance of safe waste disposal • Food safety procedures, safe food handling and avoiding unsafe behaviour • Recognise the main risks to food safety from contamination and cross-contamination, chemical, physical and allergenic hazards • Safe food handling and temperature control practices for delivery, storage, date • marking and stock rotation • Food handling and temperature control practices for preparing, re-stocking, picking • and transporting food for home delivery Course duration: 1 day classroom or workplace or online Assessment method: Multiple-choice examination
